Mendel Kaelen

(Neuroscientist, UK)

Mendel Kaelen, PhD, is the founder and CEO of Wavepaths, a company that studies and develops therapeutic use of music. He worked as a PhD and postdoctoral neuroscientist at Imperial College London since 2012, where his research demonstrated music’s central role in psychedelic therapies. He is considered a thought leader on the use of music for psychedelic therapy.

Ronin Wesna

(Shipibo Master, Peru)

Ronin Wesna (“Mother of the Anaconda” in Shipibo) is a vegetalista and artisan of kené design, a cultural heritage of the Shipibo-Konibo people. Together with the women of her community, Ronin leads the construction of the Moatiabi Noi-Ananti Xobo sanctuary, a project that encompasses the conservation of the Amazon rainforest and the creation of a shelter for the most vulnerable members of the community.

Joan Obiols

(Psychiatrist, Spain)

Psychiatrist and anthropologist with extensive experience in mental health and modified states of consciousness. Founder and director of the SAAS Mental Health Services in Andorra, medical director of the Synaptica Clinic and president of the Board of ICEERS. He has been a professor at several universities, a member of the WPA and has conducted fieldwork on Amazonian shamanism. With more than 80 publications and 450 conference presentations, his research covers hallucinogens, schizophrenia and psychopathology.

Irene Pérez

(Psychotherapist, Spain)

Master in Art Therapy, Somatic Therapist, graduated in Anthropology and trained in Amazonian traditions. She accompanies experiences and integration with plants and psychedelics. Currently, she works at the Synaptica Clinic. Collaborator with ICEERS and BeckleyMed as a research assistant in ayahuasca studies.

José Carlos Bouso

(Clinical psychologist, ICEERS, Spain)

José Carlos Bouso is a clinical psychologist and doctor in Pharmacology. He is the Scientific Director for ICEERS, where he coordinates studies on the potential benefits of psychoactive plants, mainly cannabis, ayahuasca and ibogaine.

Eirini K. Argyri

(Researcher, UK)

Eirini Ketzitzidou Argyri is a PhD researcher at the University of Exeter and a member of the Challenging Psychedelic Experiences Project. She studies how alterations in the perception of reality influence individual and collective transformation, with a focus on the integration of challenging experiences. She also coordinates the Transdisciplinary Psychedelic Colloquium and collaborates in psychedelic support and integration initiatives.

Aura Roig

(Anthropologist, Spain)

Aura Roig Forteza is a social and cultural anthropologist with a Master's degree in Criminology and Criminal Law Sociology. Currently, she is immersed in her PhD in Medical Anthropology. As director and founder of Metzineres, she has promoted the first non-profit cooperative dedicated to creating shelter environments for women and people of non-binary gender who use drugs and face violence and multiple situations of vulnerability.

Héctor Brotons

(Lawyer, Spain)

Director of Brotsanbert, with more than 20 years of experience in the legal field, specializing in public health, human rights, public policy and the regulation of natural substances and plants. Recognized for his work as an activist and his advice on psychedelic projects, he has worked in the defense of innovative models of access and regulation, as well as in the protection of rights in this field.

Gerardo Gonzalo

(Researcher, Spain)

Gerardo has a degree in Pharmacy and a master's degree in Clinical and Cognitive Neuroscience. He is currently pursuing his PhD at the University of Coimbra, Portugal, where he is researching the effects of ayahuasca ceremonies on social cognition using different neuroimaging techniques. He is a founding member and director of Inawe, as well as a volunteer in the Energy Control harm reduction project

Igor Domsac

(Journalist, Spain)

PhD in Journalism from the Complutense University. Director of the magazine Enteogenia. Author, proofreader and translator of numerous books on psychoactive substances. He worked at Energy Control and Kosmicare. He has collaborated in magazines such as Interzona, Cáñamo, Ulises, Infocannabis or Cannabis Magazine. President of Alter Consciens. Communications Coordinator at ICEERS.

Marta Martín Islas

(Psychologist, Spain)

Psychologist and neuropsychologist, trained in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. She has collaborated with ICEERS on research involving psychedelic plants and currently works at Clínica Synaptica facilitating psychedelic psychotherapy.

Karina Bertolotto

(Psychologist, CEO of BMed, Spain)

Karina Bertolotto is a psychologist, art therapist, and teacher with over 20 years of experience, specialized in humanistic, somatic, and transpersonal approaches. She holds a Master’s degree in Humanistic Psychotherapy and is a PhD candidate at Queen Margaret University. She has trained generations of therapists at the University of Barcelona and is a member of EUROTAS.

Fernando Hernández

(Anthropologist, Spain)

Fernando Hernández González holds a degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology from the School for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences (EHESS) in Paris. Specializing in the comparative study of the oral and historiographical traditions of the ancient Canarians, his research focuses on the anthropology of native populations, Canarian ethnographic beliefs, and sacred sites from the Indigenous past.

Marc Aixalà

(Research Therapist, Fundació Sant Joan de Déu, Spain)

Marc Aixalà coordinates support and integration services at ICEERS. He provides integration psychotherapy sessions for people in challenging situations after experiencing non-ordinary states of consciousness. He is trained in the therapeutic use of Non-Ordinary States of Consciousness, and in MDMA assisted-psychotherapy for PTSD.

José Gregorio González

(Journalist, Spain)

José Gregorio has dedicated more than three decades of his life to studying and disseminating topics related to historical enigmas, folklore, and magical beliefs, as well as the unusual and curious events that have occurred in our islands. On television, he directed the program 'Canarias Mágica' for several seasons. On radio, since 2008, he has been directing and hosting the show 'Crónicas de San Borondón' on Canarias Radio.

Kiko Castellanos

(Entrepreneur and artist, Spain)

Francisco “Kiko” Castellanos is a mission-driven researcher and organizational troubleshooter working at the intersection of organizational systems, creative process, and transformative practice. He bridges domains through research and systems thinking, with field experience within ayahuasca communities and a focus on psychedelic integration research. His current practice combines research, consulting, and creative inquiry toward purpose-driven systemic change.

Miguel Castejón

(Journalist, Spain)

Journalist specialized in drugs. He was responsible for the news section of the magazine Cáñamo, covering for several years the global news on psychoactives with special attention to public policies on cannabis and psychedelics. He was part of the editorial team of the countercultural magazine Ajoblanco and maintains the drug outreach project on social media Ojos Verdes (@verdes.ojos.verdes).

Rafael Guimarães

(Pharmacologist, Brazil)

He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmacology from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and completed his post-doctoral studies at the Universidade de São Paulo. Currently, he is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto - Universidade de São Paulo (USP), in the Department of Neurosciences and Behavioral Sciences. He has over 100 publications on hallucinogens, with more than 70 of these publications focusing on ayahuasca.

Óscar Soto Angona

(Psychiatrist , Spain)

Óscar Soto Angona is a psychiatrist and researcher, specialized in the clinical and phenomenological study of psychedelics. He works at Parc Sanitari Sant Joan de Déu, where he combines his clinical work in psychiatric rehabilitation with his role as a researcher in clinical trials involving substances such as psilocybin, ayahuasca, and 5-MeO-DMT. He is the president and founder of the Spanish Society of Psychedelic Medicine (SEMPsi).

Jesús González Mariscal

(Psychologist, anthropologist, Spain)

He has researched traditional indigenous medicines and their applications in mental health, consciousness, and the arts. He was Therapeutic Coordinator at Takiwasi (Peruvian Amazon) and a member of the Niérika Institute (Mexico), where he led projects on psilocybin mushrooms and intercultural medicine. He currently practices in Barcelona, collaborates with the Spanish Society of Psychedelic Medicine, and takes part in projects in Mexico, Peru, and Spain.

Liana Aya Silvey

(Therapist, Spain)

Liana has been trained by Older Brothers from several tribes and shamans from Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Venezuela, and South Africa. She holds a Master's degree in Naturopathy, Nutrition, and Alternative Therapies from the Spanish National Association of Naturology and Biotherapies. Founder of Being Evolution Club.

Sophia Vasconcelos

(Psychologist, Brasil)

Sophia Guimarães Vasconcelos. Master’s in Psychology Candidate at Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FEP-UCP), currently writing a dissertation on Psychedelics and Health Behaviors. At the present completing a curricular internship working at Eulas Clinics - Scotland, a pioneering clinic in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with a focus on aftercare.

Flora Sirkia

(Founder of Psyflow, Germany)

Flora is an artist, gardener, mindfulness teacher, startup founder and advisor, and psychedelic cheerleader with a lifelong connection to altered states. She has spent almost 30 years as a DJ, curating soundscapes that support expanded states and healing. Rooted in cross-cultural awareness, her work bridges language, music, and consciousness. In 2023, she envisioned Psyflow, a trauma-informed, heart-centered community initiative grounded in compassion, inclusivity, and presence.

Cecile Giovannetti

(Psychologist, Belgium)

Cecile Giovannetti is a PhD candidate at Ghent University. Her research is based on eight years of fieldwork on the therapeutic use of ayahuasca in community-based contexts across Latin America. Since 2017, she has collaborated with the Takiwasi Center in Peru and, since 2021, with the Nierika Center and the Yaqui Intercultural Medicine Clinic in Mexico, supporting psychological and ceremonial treatment for communities affected by violence and cultural disconnection.

Ingrid Tartakowsky

(Psychologist, Chile)

Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology (University of Chile). Independent researcher in medical ethnobotany with ten years of experience in psychotherapy assisted by vegetalismo (ayahuasca and other Amazonian plants). Developer of therapeutic programs that combine psychotherapy with plant medicines to address various mental health issues. Member of the Foundation for the Study of Human Consciousness.

Adela Abad

(Intercultural Mediator, Spain)

Adela Abad is an intercultural educator, artist, sociolinguistic mediator, and coordinator of multidisciplinary care and support teams in recreational settings. She is the founder of the project Esperanza, through which she facilitates teaching and learning processes and promotes knowledge exchange among professionals grounded in a critical and inclusive ethics toward diversity —of contexts, practices, needs, knowledge, meanings, bodies, identities, and experiences.
